Winter tires

I need to buy winter tires for my Tiguan soon (I live in the Alps). For winter wheels and tires, which size is generally better (comfort, handling, etc.) 17, 18 or 19”?

I chose 235/55 R18 for winter, 235/50 R19 for summer. The problem was finding suitable discs for winter tires. There is not so much choice in the size of aluminum discs 7.5x18, ET40, 5x112

UK based (NE England) tend not to get severe winters these days, however do get the odd bad spells. I have got set of Michelin Cross Climate fitted so no need for second set of wheels, hopefully this setup will be keep me on the road whatever British winter throws at me

Not really an answer to your question.
I have Continental Viking Contact 7 235/50/19, which are specifically designed for the Nordic climate (I’m based in Sweden). I have aftermarket rims, which I previously had on my Q5. They have the same bolt pattern and I’ll use an insert to reduce the hub size for the Tiguan. I’ve been happy with 19” in the winter.

Hello folks new to the forum just orderd my Tiguan and was thinking about winter tyres.
This is my first post so I apologize if this is not the way of the forum.

Do wheels from the MK2 Tiguan fit the MK3 if so this could be an option for fitting winter tyres
as I often see used wheels for MK2 for sale.

The permitted dimensions of discs and tires are listed in the car's Certificate of Conformity. Just compare.
For my MK3 Tiguan Elegance it says:
