Has anyone had the "infamous" software update that is supposed to fix all the assist errors? Or know when it is due?

I was told the 9th of September, then the 12th and now they dont know when it is due.

I have been given the following options from the dealer:

Option 1- We buy your current car back at the price you paid, putting you back in the same financial position as your were upon purchase.
Option 2- We sit and wait for the update to come through.
Unfortunately, we cannot do a car swap due to no cars the same as yours coming through until June 2025 at the earliest.

I am also talking to VW finance, to see what they are going to say.

Test driving a Kia Sportage on Friday, as I'm pretty sick of this now. I've not had my car for over two weeks and driving around in a poverty spec golf estate.

I'm sorry but that's unacceptable. You should get your money back and buy something else.
I don't know about the UK, but I've had a look at bunch of other alternatives, maybe one of these could work for you:

Renault Austral
Audi Q3
VW Tiguan
Hyundai Tucson
Toyota Corolla Cross
Škoda Karoq
Ford Kuga
Cupra Formentor
Kia Sportage
Nissan Qashqai
Mazda CX-5

These two were not an option for us because they are smaller and and not an upgrade based on what we have right now:
Renault Symbioz
SEAT Ateca

These two were not an option in the end since they cost 10k€ more:
BMW X1
Toyota RAV4

These three were not an option for us due to only having 1.2 3-cylinder petrol engines:
Peugeot 3008
Citroen C5 Aircross
Opel (Vauxhall) Grandland

EDIT: Full disclaimer, I'm not here to advertise other brands, I've ordered my Tiguan on 4th of September and won't be seeing it until July most likely. And that's fine, I hope these issues will be sorted out by then. If not, I won't waste my time and will immediately get a full refund and buy something else from the list above.

I've posted elsewhere on the forum about my Tiguan, yesterday was 10 weeks to the day that I last saw mine. I had all sorts of software issues including the "please visit workshop" warning.
Yesterday I rang VW service at Caffyns for an update to be told that this software update "should be happening in another couple of weeks". I've been told that before a few times so I'm not confident.
I have a complaint with VW Finance underway which can take up to 8 weeks for a decision on some form of compensation, I believe I'm 5-6 weeks into that.
The dealer has lent me a T-Cross which they then sold, and a base trim Golf estate which I've been using since ( the last 6 weeks).

Got a call from customer care yesterday to say the update should be out by the end of this week. I'm very skeptical of this. Car has been at the dealer for about 2 weeks and is only around 4 weeks old. Simply not good enough.

does anyone actually know though what issues this update will address? Im still waiting for VWFS to sort my rejection on mine. I was prepared to cope with the techie issues until it goes back but the brakes are getting worse to a point where I do not want to drive the thing!

I had the same call from VW customer service, saying the software was available. It would only be applied to "problem" vehicles.

I called the dealer this morning and am waiting on a call back.

The software update that was released yesterday, was apparently for cars that had the non start issue. I've not had that, just the assist error.
VW customer care are calling me back tomorrow, so will see what they say.
