Hi all,
New to the forum and a new Tiguan owner, I have my Tiggy since the end of July, when i first got it there was like a burning plastic smell when I stopped driving, I googled it and it appeared to be normal, i noticed the smell again today and rang my local dealer who have told me this isn't normal and there haven't been any burning smells reported from the new Tiguan's and have advised me not to drive the car and to have break down assist collect the car. Has anyone else experienced this? Its a 2ltr TDI automatic.
Thanks a mill.
Burning plastic smell
Being a TDi , it’s not from DPF regeneration is it? Does it happen on every trip.
My first Tig, a 2017 2.0 TDi used to smell a bit like that when the DPF regeneration kicked in.

I was thinking it could be a dpf regen, but surely the dealership would know that?? No harm in getting it checked just incase
You’d have thought so, but elan2s point is valid.
Hope you can get to the bottom of it soon.

Never ceases to amaze me how little dealers know about the cars they sellNewTiggyONR wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 6:36 pm I was thinking it could be a dpf regen, but surely the dealership would know that?? No harm in getting it checked just incase
