No issues
Congrats! Any pictures please? It's the color we ordered so always happy to look at Nightshade Blue :D

Very twitchy

I have a 1.5 eTSi Elegance on order from end August (last communication from dealer was "due in December") to replace my 1.5 2021 Elegance.

I have to say that reading all the issues that many (most?) of you on this forum are experiencing I am getting increasingly twitchy about swapping what is an excellent Mk 2 for the Mk 3. I've emailed my dealer this morning to get an update on my order and timescale for delivery, but also to express my anxiety about the multitude of problems I'm reading about here. It appears there are very few of you who have had no problems.

I'm sure my dealer will give me lots of reassurance - after all they just want my money, but it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say. When I mentioned concerns that some had when placing my order (having done my reserach here first) he told me that there had been "some" problems but not many,, but mostly not to bother looking at forums!!!!

Interestingly, I'm away next week for a family holiday, and one of those going - my wife's niece) has got a Mk 3 Elegance, so I'll have a long chat with her.

I have had my 1.5 eTSI Elegance for almost two months now and fortunately haven't encountered any of the problems discussed elsewhere on this forum. Well, apart from a random (and completely unnecessary) auto emergency stop and a warning display that something was unavailable which then disappeared really quickly. Clearly there are some problems that occur more often than anyone would want but it's difficult to say what proportion of new owners are affected by them. I must say, though that I am very wary about how often I wash it or what might happen in hard rain!

Glad to hear you’ve had no problems. I’ve had no response yet - my contact may be away for half term I suppose.
I’m sure the nature of this forum it’s users is such that this MAY represent a skewed reality of the actual problems this car has - not many people will just come to a forum to say it’s a great car and of those that do post here, they are obviously people who have more of an interest in sharing their experience with others. But when you’re spending north of £38k and see the issues that have been raised here it inevitably makes you nervous I guess. Well it does me

So I’ve heard back from my dealer. This is the crux of his response:

“I check status daily and all new Tiguan’s are in a state of “flux”. Partly due to the technical problems some cars have experienced… (although) in fact only 3-5% of new Tiguan’s have experienced the issues you describe.

As of this week VW have released the software updates for all existing Tiguan’s to be fixed. As a dealer we are re-calling those few cars effected.

Your car is likely to be built with the new upgraded software so the issues experienced won’t be repeated.

With regard to build date, last week it had a build date of WK15.. that’s April 2025
(he originally advised me “December”)
At this moment your car has a build date of WK49, so some 3 or 4 weeks later than originally anticipated.
So, the state of “flux” is so far allowing build dates to be brough back towards original.

At the moment I wouldn’t lose any sleep. I check every day and as of this moment I’m expecting the build to be brought back towards its original date”

I’m somewhat reassured by this especially with him confirming what others have posted today that the software update is imminent.

X7, really? Replacing one car with issues with another car with even more (expensive) issues... definitely one of the most unreliable BMWs out there nowadays based on everything I've read online. Good luck, hope yours will be great!!

I told my dealer that I was looking for either Persimmon Red or Nightshade Blue as happy with either. So happened that a Persimmon Red became available for delivery within 2 weeks.
Another colour that suits the Tiguan well is Cipressino Green, although I didn’t appreciate that at the time.
I’m waiting on a Tiguan III Match eTSI 150PS DSG in Persimmon Red, but the Cipressino Green was my second choice. I followed a Tiggy in the green on Friday of last week, in sunlight it looked fantastic.

Mine is scheduled for build next week (Wk.36/24 - w/c 2/9/24), so hopefully in the UK around the end of the month.
And was your car built in the first week of September? - wk36

Latest update from my dealer today

Build week seems to have settled at Week 2 (was looking as far back as April 25 at in one point). Seems to think that means me actually getting my hands on it sometime in February.
Order was finalised mid September.

After much hand-wringing I have cancelled my Mk3 order.

Two (main) reasons.

1. My Mk2.5 Elegance is a perfect car. Best I’ve ever owned. Why do I want to change it, especially for a model that has the risk of problems outlined frequently on this forum. I appreciate it allegedly only impacts 3%-5% of Mk3 Tiguans, and mine would have had the latest s/w when built, but I don’t want to take the chance.
I’ve been constantly worrying about whether I’d done the right thing in ordering the Mk3, and to be honest, if I’m worrying about it every single day, I’m clearly not committed to that decision.
I already feel much better for having cancelled.

2. I’m increasingly convinced that my next car will be/should be an EV, probably within a couple of years. I don’t want to commit to another PCP at this moment in time. Yes I could lease, or pay cash or pay a PCP off, but see point 1.

I’ll keep an eye on things here, but it won’t be with a Mk 3.

Thanks all for input on my posts here.
