Just a question as I'm generally driving and not able to see the Led strip at the front of the car, I am just wondering what conditions make it come on, I have seen it when locking the car but when does/should it be on?

Pretty sure the light bar only comes on when the headlights are on. When driving in daytime with just with DRLs on it is off

I wondered about how/when the front bonnet light strip comes on.
I’ve only had my Mk3 Elegance for four weeks and in that time I have only seen three other Mk.3 Tiguans on the road, one of which had the bonnet strip light on and if was in broad daylight.
This prompted me to go looking in settings and it appears to me that the light is only supposed to come on, during daylight hours, if conditions are poor. I think it comes on automatically at night, but wouldn’t swear to that with out further investigation.
I haven’t thoroughly gone into it but a few weeks ago I had a little play and I think you can turn it on manually using the setting buttons just below and to the right of the steering wheel. Centre one is AUTO and the left one seems to turn on the bonnet strip light.

Do you have IQ Matrix Lights? On my Match that has the enhanced LED but not IQ Matrix, there is no control in the headlight settings menu to adjust the light bar. Only comes on with the headlights

Don’t think I have signature matrix lights. Standard Elegance Equipment , re lights, looks much the same as the Match.
See attached photos of triple light control switch etc.. When ignition turned on it always comes on with just AUTO lit up. In bright sunlight, as photos ,attached, then the bonnet signature light is not on. If you then press the LH FRONT switch then bonnet signature light comes on. Toggling the centre MODE light you can also get the rear rear signature light to come on in daylight.

OK so you don't have the IQ headlights, but the IQ rear lights. The ode switch allows you to override the auto function (when you press it you will a message pop in the DIS) and it cycles through side lights, headlights and Auto hence why the light bar and rear lights come on. Note, if you select sidelights as you exceed about 10mph they switch to headlights. Likewise turning on the front or rear fog lights you also rub on the headlights and hence the signature bar comes on.

Hi. On an unrelated subject on the front light bar. I have had my tiguan a week and already had a stone fly off the road into the light bar and shattered it . Is the lense replaceable or will it need a whole light bar. Does anyone know?
