I’ve also had some issues with the sound and despite changing settings have still not been able to get a satisfactory level. Two weeks after ownership I’ve had some assistant system lights come on (4 in total). These have not reset and it needs to be booked into vw. Yesterday the car wouldn’t start. Took me around 15 minutes to get it going.

Well I have adjusted the sound on my one week old Mk3 Elegance and it’s now just as good as the sound was in my Mk2 SEL ….i.e. an excellent sound rich in bass, treble, etc..

Sounds to me like you have grounds for an investigation by your supplying dealer as it might be defective.
May I ask what settings you have used to get a decent sound? Similar to others I’ve also struggled to get a satisfactory sound that matched my mk2. Thanks in advance!

I’ve had the echo effect which I initially thought was a fault but now understand it to be the voice enhancer. I went into settings to switch off but it won’t let me alter it from mid volume saying something like not adjustable at this time ! Anybody else had this problem - I find it quite distracting from otherwise reasonable basic sound system.

Does your car only have a 3-band equalizer?

The echo chamber effect can be experienced if your spec includes the voice enhancement system which pumps your voice out the rear speakers for the rear passengers to hear you clearly. I turned mine off as I very rarely have anybody in the back.
