My car has now been in the garage for 2 weeks with this airbag issue. Apparently they've tried two 'test plans' from VW without success and are now awaiting further instructions. Quite frustrating.

It certainly looks as if the airbag warning light issue is not an isolated case, there being a number of people experiencing associated problems.
My car has been off the road since 26 October, with the problem, and so far despite my complaints VW hasn’t given me any positive information, other than that the required part is on back order! Very useful!!
I would suggest that anyone with this sort of problem write/email a complaint to customerservices@volkswagen.co.uk ……and, if you have purchased your car via Volkswagen Finance, then ALSO write/email a complaint to customersolutions@vwfs.co.uk.

GET IT IN WRITING!

Sent my complaint to VW today. I wait more in hope than expectation for a helpful response.

Good luck!! You’ll definitely get an initially encouraging emailed response promising the earth! Unfortunately, if it’s anything like mine then essentially it will likely be BS designed to put you on hold!

I’m still waiting for VW Customer Services to get their act together and actually do as they said they would ……..try and get me.an actual date when the required replacement part will be delivered so the Dealer can hopefully fix my car, which has now been off the road for over 6 weeks.

Did hear from Dealer, last week, saying part might be delivered to them today but no guarantee. Not heard anything so far but absolutely no quibble with the Dealer whatsoever!

AS FOR VW ……

Haven’t heard from VW Customer Services for a week now, when they promised to chase the part and get back to me.

Nothing either from VWFS following my emailed complaint to them on 01 December, other than an email response 3 days later telling me I’m to be assigned a Dedicated Executive who I can expect to receive a call from to discuss my concerns in more detail. THAT WAS 04 DECEMBER …………IT’S NOW 09 DECEMBER ……STILL WAITING!!

If by some lucky chance I get my car back AOK in the next few days then I’ll flag it up!

How stupid I was to even hope that the replacement part would turn up ……of course it didn’t!
Had a call from VW Customer Service, this morning, telling me that the part has been expedited! Really!!

Bottom line ……VW appears to be a mere shadow of what it once was!!

Well the 09 December ETA for the new seatbelt, required to fix the Airbag Warning Light problem, came and went! So did the 19 December ETA! The latest ETA is now 28 January 2025!!
I have not seen my Tiguan since 28 October!! The car will be 7 months old, on 28 Jan, and at that time I will have had just 4 months use out of it! THIS IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE ….especially after all the hype VW has given me about how important my case is, how they understand my concerns, and how they will do everything to assist me!
Regrettably I now have to attempt to reject the car, because this looks as if it will run and run. I believe that under the terms of the Consumer Rights Act, within the first 6 months, if the car develops a fault and the supplier has not been able to fix it then you have the right to reject. SO VERY DISAPPOINTING!

47 days later, still no Tiguan for me. And it’s been over 3 weeks since VW acknowledged my complaint but with no additional follow-up. I’m reluctantly getting ready to push the big red “Reject” button with VWFS. :|

That’s just appalling service.
Hilariously ,I noticed the dashboard on Car Wow’s YouTube video review,on the new 2024 Tiguan, is illuminated with error messages!
Clearly ,even the press cars were released with errors. VW hang your heads in shame!

Absolutely unacceptable… although I am no longer surprised!
Still no progress on my Elegance which has been off the road since 28 October waiting for a replacement passenger seat airbag which the dealer says is causing the airbag error message/warning light.
Volkswagen Customer Service (the sad joke is in the name!!) has not given me any tangible help whatsoever.
On 20 December the servicing dealer informed me that the ETA for the replacement part had slipped again, backwards to 28 January 2025!
As a result I wrote a further complaint, that very day to both VWFS and the supplying Dealer, saying either supply the part without further delay or I reject the car. Apart from automatic email acknowledgements I have not received any comment from them!
I AM FRANKLY APPALLED WITH VOLKSWAGEN! MY PREVIOUSLY STAUNCH FAITH IN THE BRAND HAS BEEN SHATTERED!!

Maybe a collective class action against VW may accelerate the solutions we all need
