Tax Rates 2025
With the car tax rates change from the 1st April 2025. What price will this make the tax with the premium tax added too? My new Tiguan will apparently be £600 from the second year. Does the new tax rate apply to the first year only and then normal of £190 a year plus the extra premium?
Yep

Like many other articles this auto express article makes a common error. The 40k figure is based on the P11D value of the car not the normal manufactured quoted on the road RRP. The P11D value which is also used for company car tax purposes, excludes the cost of delivery, number plates and first year's taxTiggy64 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 9:15 pm Yep

Yes the new tax rate based on CO2 only applies in year 1 and is part of the on the road charge. Years 2-6 are the (currently) £190 + £410 standard road tax for cars with p11d value over £40k. Vehicle taxation was a key factor in my replacing my a6 with the Tiguan to get below the £40k thresholdcohare7 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 7:14 pm With the car tax rates change from the 1st April 2025. Yeh even some of the dealers don't know this, I managed to add white to mine and the dealers swore it would attract the premium, it doesn't.elan2s wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 9:27 amLike many other articles this auto express article makes a common error.
