Hi there
I have a 2020 Tiguan SEL 1.5 TSi 150 ps and I’m weighing up whether to trade in and change to the new model.
Just wondering whether anyone on the forums has already done this and would welcome any feedback on the new Tig..
Presently I am considering either the Special Edition Match 1.5 eTSI 150ps or the Elegance eTSI 1.5 150ps.
I’m going for a test drive tomorrow but this, of course, will be on an R-Line so no doubt will provide an experience which might not be altogether indicative of the lower trims.
Most road test reviews indicate that the suspension is on the firm side, much like the Mk.2 Tig which can be a little unsettled on poor urban road surfaces, and one reviewer went as far as saying that in the UK, where roads are not in a good state, the Adaptive Chassis Control option is a must. Just wonder whether anyone who has the new model is able to comment on that issue particularly?
Cheers

Well I have an R line so it's basically going to be the same as you are going to drive tomorrow, the suspension is quite firm but then with the 20" wheels I expected it, if your going for the other models your going to get smaller alloys and I'm guessing less sporty suspension so the ride will be better.
I would test the car you are going to buy and not a different version so you know what your getting into, I chose a pretty much basic car in white as I was trying to avoid the 40 luxury tax, an elegance with DCC is gonna put you into the higher tax bracket and I don't think you can spec DCC on a match (or at least you couldn't).

Yes, I know about the ridiculous so called luxury £40 tax. The way car prices have increased you’re hardly getting into luxury territory now! How did you manage to get an R-Line and stay under £40k?
It seems that most dealers always offer the the top of the range in the hope that all the bells & whistles will impress and seal the deal! The local dealership in Cardiff was only able to let me look around a Match as it was already sold.
I have 19 inch wheels on my Mk.2 Tiguan and even these can be a bit firm, especially in Wales where road maintenance is being overlooked at the expense of brand new broadly underused cycle lanes everywhere!
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts! Appreciated!

Well I had the mk2 tiguan but that was a while back and since then I had a T roc R, then a Hybrid Rav4, the Rav4 was by far the most comfortable.Bertieb wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 7:10 pm Yes, I know about the ridiculous so called luxury £40 tax. You can still spec a R line to come under the 40k luxury tax as long as you go for either Urano grey (basic colour) or pure white, there aren't many (if any) extras you can add after that other than mayne tyre pressure monitors on a urano.
I have a 1.5 (150) Match spec car with Winter Pack, came to it from an Audi A6 Avant Sport, so with the standard rather than S-Line suspension. Apart from the dealer slightly over inflating the tyres on delivery (2.7 rather than 2.5 bar), I would say the ride is firm (bit firmer than the Audi) but not unreasonably so, the extra wheelbase on the Audi would also help with the ride. Unless you really want the extras on the Elegance (more extensive interior lighting, massage front seats and memory on the parking function being the main ones) I would say the Match is very good spec vehicle and keeps you well under the £40k, metallic paint is also included. 18” wheels will also help with the ride
Went from facelift 2.0 petrol R Line 4motion to 1.5 etsi Elegance Launch edition. After nearly 4 weeks owning new car I regret buying it. New gear selector not a fan, got the 15 Infotainment screen which I don't find particularly intuitive or user friendly and sound quality to me is very poor and almost feels like being in an echo chamber if trying to talk or even coughing. Def bad move for me but stuck with it...
Elegance Launch edition, 1.5 (150) etsi
From my perspective, the jury is still out on the gear selector, I understand why they did it and the gear selector today is no more than an electrical switch so can be put anywhere. Aston Martins have push buttons on the dash and MB have had column based selectors for years. My biggest issue is remembering which way to twist it when manoeuvring. I only have the 12.9 screen and agree that the 15" one looks over sized. The new screen operating system is much better than the system in the Golf 8 and also the one I had in the Audi A6. I don't have the echo chamber effect you are talking about or think the sound quality form the audio is poor, but I do not consider any car to be an ideal environment for listening to audio so maybe my expectations are automatically low.essgeedar wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 4:00 pm Went from facelift 2.0 petrol R Line 4motion to 1.5 etsi Elegance Launch edition. Hopefully over time you will get to like the car, I certainly do not find it step down from the A6, and seeing things like lined door pockets, which Audi dropped a few years back is welcome, plus the 30% improvement in fuel consumption, lower road tax and insurance.
The gear selector is a bit funny but all the ID’S have them now, on the sound quality have you gone into the settings the standard is a flat sound so if have put the bass and treble up and left the mid range lots betteressgeedar wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 4:00 pm Went from facelift 2.0 petrol R Line 4motion to 1.5 etsi Elegance Launch edition.
