Hi All,

New here and just took delivery of my MK3 on Monday.
Just a quick question, I’ve noticed that very randomly Auto Hold will be deactivated every now and then when I get into the car, 90% of the time it is on but then randomly switches itself off.

Has anyone else experience this or know what may be causing it? It’s a bit of an issue when you expect it to be activated but can randomly turn off on its own.

The only time mine has been off is when I used the spare key which has diffent setting applied to it.

Mine very occasionally switches off (also think the high beam assist switches off at the same time). No reason or pattern that I can find as yet to see why

Auto hold on mine seems to switch off from time to time but my feeling is that not so often now.
I’ve had the car five weeks and It happened regularly in the first few weeks so I am suspicious that it might have been down to me accidentally turning it off as I was initially regularly accessing multiple screens trying to familiarise myself with the various settings.

What I do find slightly irritating is that it does not automatically switch off when parking. On my previous Audi A6s (and I think on my wife's Golf8) whenever the you selected reverse it switched off the auto hold to make parking easier. In the Tiguan it can often activate when making small manoeuvres meaning you have to overcome the brake before moving. Realise I could just go to the screen and turn it off but it does seem to be retrograde step

I also find that a bit concerning especially when I’m trying to park reasonably tightly up to a wall or whatever! With auto braking coming on because it decides you’re too close, together with then having to use the accelerator to overcome auto hold to inch forward….it’s a bit fraught!
I’ve found that manually toggling the electronic handbrake down before each inch forward tends to avoid the jerkiness as the car then just moves forward on tick-over alone because manually pressing the handbrake releases auto hold.

I've had my 2024 Elegance for about 6 weeks and loving the car. However, I've also had the Auto Hold randomly switching off. In fact it's happened twice in the last 2 days. It happened in the first week and then was fine for 3 weeks but has started again recently. I've reported it to the garage and they've asked me to monitor it and get back to them. You just know it would not happen if I took it in to show them. Had it in to the garage today(29 Aug) and they have finally acknowledged the Auto Hold and other Assist issues are due to a software issue that VW are currently working on. So it's a matter of waiting for the update!

When reversing into a narrow garage, my autohold is regularly activated, even though I have autohold turned off. Which assistant can be turned off so that this unpleasant phenomenon does not occur?

There is an option in the parking assist settings menu for manoeuvre braking and I think that (maybe plus turning off Auto Hold) should help

Yes, the deactivation option is there. Unfortunately, the function is active again after each new start of the car.
