Apologies for the knee jerk rant but......
Took possession of my new leased Tiguan 2.0TDi Match on Monday, it was picked up at a friends in Essex and I have driven it home to Northern Ireland today - stopped for 2 nights in the Lake District where I had to call out VW Assist because my check engine light had come on. The guy from a 3rd party recovery service just cleared the fault codes (P23AD seems to have been the problem one - something to do with a NOX sensor) and the car seems to be OK again, no re-occurence in the subsequent 180 miles.
There have been a few niggles with the car which I need time now I am home to figure out
But, when I got home I opened my garage door and attempted to drive the car in but it just won't go. The car slams the brakes on including the parking brake and puts itself in to park, if I turn the parking brake off and try D or R it just reverts to P and puts the parking brake back on (over and over).
Turning the car off and on allows me to select R and get out of the mouth of the garage.
I've been in the house (garage) since 1995, driving VW's since 2002, this is my 4th Tiguan, the last one, a 2020 did beep every time I went into the garage but I knew it was OK and I never once even touched the sides.
Not sure how to proceed with this, even if I can do anything?
Any ideas or suggestions?
Sensors too sensitive
I have an update on this. Went out this morning just to confirm all the steps I was taking (I started to question myself) and the car driove into the garage first time. Then it wouldn't drive out. I tried several times and eventually it did drive out, I appear to have to switch the car off and on again before it will work but even that doesn't work all the time.
I have been in and out of the garage a few times and sometimes it just works but more often it takes several attempts.

Sounds like it is probably the rear cross traffic radar sensors detecting an impending collision, look at the display a nd see if the large segments on the rear corners are showing red. Try turning those off. Have had them triggered several times when a pedestrian has walked near but not close to the vehicle. Scared me the first time, though I had hit something
I'm not sure what (page of the) display you are talking about but I don't see how rear sensors will have any impact on driving into a garage.
The car is going into VW for an investigation but they don't have an appointment until 8th August!
Car seems to be stuck in Comfort mode, no matter what I set it to, next time I get in the car it is back in Comfort!

The car will always revert to comfort mode when it's switched off and on again, is yours actually stuck as in can't change it at all?, if not always read the manual before going to the dealer to save faceSandLake wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 1:22 pm I'm not sure what (page of the) display you are talking about but I don't see how rear sensors will have any impact on driving into a garage.

Ahh, I didn't realise that and it is not intuitive to me, why can I not just select a different mode and stay in it. In fact why not have both options?
My Mk2 was set to Eco when I got it and stayed there - although I only recently discovered that that affected the cooling/heating in the vehicle

I just click the centre knob and turn it then click, it's become second nature now, it's a bit of a pain but not as much as my wife's new Toyota which doesn't keep auto hold turned on, you have to accept the sat nav terms and conditions each time plus the steering assist etc etc
I can't believe how many Youtube reviews I have watched about the Mk3 Tiguan and how many complaints there have been about no longer having haptic buttons for temperature control which I personally change about 4 times a year and never a mention of all these other trivial issues that need changing every time you get into the car.
After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing with my local garage, they have swapped out a seat sensor (not sure exactly which) and essentially the car is OK now, it still has issues driving into or out of my garage but I'm told that is normal and to just get on with it.
Compared to my Mk2 SEL this is a major step backwards. It is a 4 year lease and I'll be trying my hardest to get it handed back before the 4 years is up. Not impressed at all!
